Tastes of Summer Writing Prompts

On the first Monday of every month, I create a few writing prompts to help you get writing! You’ll see them here each month and on Instagram @thelexiconwritingblog every Monday.

June means summer is just around the corner and I can’t wait. For me, summer means beachtime, hikes, and plenty of fresh fruits and veggies. And copious amounts of writing.

To facilitate that, here are four new writing prompts for you to get writing this month! Make like Ray Bradbury and write a short story a week!

Here we go!

  1. Write the origin story of the s’more. Make it as funny or as sad as you want.
  2. Write a short story about a lemon from seed to lemonade. Use all the senses and write in as much detail as possible.
  3. Write a story about a young girl or boy experiencing a soda shoppe for the first time. Make it historically accurate and richly detailed.
  4. Write a fictionalized account of your favorite summer memory.

Get writing friends! Enjoy the spare time of summer and fine tune your skills.

Cheers!
